2 Fundamental Principles in a Dog Lovers Club

There are several dog lover's groups in the United States that provide much more for both dog lovers and their pups. Here are a few examples.

"For the Love of the Purebred Dog" is a section of the American Kennel Club dedicated to dog enthusiasts. This is more than just a section on purebred dogs. It's all about living at home with dogs. This dog club provides instructive and instructional resources on canine care, training, nutrition, and other topics. However, in order to honor and commend the perseverance and successes of mixed breed dogs and handlers in obedience contests, the American Mixed Breed Obedience Registration, or AMBOR, was established in 1983. This dog lover group also supports and inspires dog handlers.

Members need to be informed of the following crucial details:

1. Mixed-breeds

Handlers and owners of mixed-breed dogs are eligible for unlimited full membership as long as the pet is spayed, and its nails are clipped. The dog should have front and side photos that will be included in the application. This is your passport to all of the agility and obedience programs, as well as automatic tabulation in the agility and obedience worldwide ranking system. This includes being eligible for the yearly awards.

This accomplishment will be recognized in AMBOR highlights (the organization's newsletter) and on the website. The member will be eligible to compete in future agility and obedience national competitions. Dogs with allocated numbers are purebreds and should be registered as such. Also, dogs who are identified as mixed-breeds and are assigned a number based on the owner's application have their membership status altered to purebred.

2. Purebreds

Purebred dogs may be listed with AMBOR with the condition that they only compete in AMBOR-supported agility programs. All purebred dogs who are registered with AMBOR and participate in AMBOR-supported agility programs will have their competition points tracked, and certificates will be issued automatically.

Purebred dogs registered with AMBOR are not eligible to participate in the agility and obedience scoring systems. They will also not be listed in the website's highlights and will not be qualified for any future mixed-breed national competitions.

Handlers who register for AMBOR-supported agility trials should write their AMBOR number on the form at the club's entry so that competition points can be tracked.
